Safety Matters
At AquaBoat Licence, we aim to achieve high standards of occupational health and safety in all locations and operations. We provide a safe system of work to prevent the ongoing effects of injuries and illness. These aims and high standards are achieved through our commitment to identifying and managing risks in the learning environment.
Instructors have the responsibility to avoid risks to themselves, colleagues, and course participants by working in a safe manner and following specified safety guidelines. They also have the responsibility to report all accidents or potential hazards which could lead to injury, loss, or damage.
All incident recording must be in accordance with Workplace Health and Safety and Maritime Safety Queensland regulations.
All training equipment will be regularly maintained to ensure a safe learning environment. All instructors and participants will be trained in the correct safety procedures relevant to their situation, and instructors will ensure they stay current with safety procedures.
This policy underscores our commitment to maintaining a safe environment for all involved in our courses.
Treat others how you would like to be treated
Our goal at AquaBoat Licence is to conduct all our courses in a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere. We aim for all people involved in our courses to work together to create a relaxed, positive learning environment, and above all else, support the rights of staff and participants alike.
Participants have the right to appeal against any decisions made as a result of serious misconduct. Participants may appeal in writing within seven (7) days against action taken to suspend, cancel their enrolment or permanently exclude them in response to Serious Misconduct if they consider the penalty unduly harsh or inappropriate. The participant will continue to be suspended pending the outcome of the appeal.
Right of Appeal
There will be no victimization as a result of making a complaint
If participants have a grievance with any part of the course implementation, module, or training program, or wish to appeal against a decision made regarding their competence, they are encouraged to first speak to their teacher/trainer to resolve the issue.
If a participant is not satisfied that the issue has been resolved, they can then detail the issue in writing to AquaBoat Licence. The complaint will be dealt with fairly, in good faith, and as a matter of priority.
AquaBoat Licence will discuss the issue with the complainant within seventy-two (72) hours of the complaint being lodged, and the complaint process will be completed within fourteen (14) days. The views of other parties to the complaint will be sought.
Appeals against the assessment of participants will not be considered beyond four (4) weeks of completion of the assessment date.
The appellant will receive written notification of the outcome and reasons for the decision. This correspondence will be received by the appellant within fourteen (14) days of the appeal being received. Another assessor can be requested, with any additional cost being borne by the participant.
If the matter is not finalised satisfactorily, the participants will be advised they may take their grievance through Maritime Safety Queensland or other bodies as appropriate.
